There are serious competitors who run the race for cash prizes, but most of the growth has come from hobbyists, who run the race just for the challenge of it. While the nationwide fad settled, Bloomsday took root. Race t-shirts are a staple of Spokane fashion, as well. A new shirt is designed each year, and finishers collect their shirts just past the finish line.

A collection of historic Bloomsday tees is a point of pride for locals. The shirts were awesome and the volunteers were so incredibly helpful every step along the way. The shuttles to and from the race were great. The after party had a lot of food and treats available, although I wish there had been a little more variety 3 different pizza places but very few of anything else. The race has a few hills, the worst is the infamous Doomsday hill! The packet pick up at the expo is fun… I always find something I want to buy. My only complaint: if you are running for time, make sure to get into one of the early groups or else you will be dodging walkers. Truly a race for everyone, runners of every level, walkers, wheelchairs, kids, and stroller pushers are all welcome. The seven-and-a-half-mile route takes participants through a course beginning and ending in downtown Spokane near Riverfront Park.
