What is squeezeplug

The only minor issue is tagging. For now I'm downloading from Samba on my plug to my laptop, correcting tag and uploading again. I installed Audio tag tool - but I think it needs a monitor. If you don't : How do you correct tags on your plug? I have posted in the hardware forum - there's not many plugowners in the tagging forum.

Since the worst news of all time I have looked at lot of posts for raspberry pi to plug pc and Apple tv2 running xbmc but can't find anything with good info. I could buy squeezebox touch but they are at premium price right now. Hello I am French and I translate the text with google translation here is my question I just bought a Time Capsule is it possible to play music files in the time capsule with my squeezebox without going through my iMac configuration and if so what does it take?

Can any one help in advising me how to get Squeezebox set up on a Thecus Npro V2. I used to have it set up on Npro but it recently died. I've manged to get all my data to the new device, but now I'm trying to set it up and having problems.

Thanks in advance for any help you can supply. Hello, I recently purchased a Raspberry Pi. I successfully installed Squeezeplug version 5 and LMS. I am running Squeezeslave to play the audio out of the onboard audio jack. At the moment I'm controlling it from my laptop. Everything is working but sometimes certain files won't play back.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Completely silent while playing through the Raspberry Pi. I open it on my laptop with Foobar and there's no problem playing it. Again, plays fine in Foobar Plays fine on my laptop with Foobar Again, this is somewhat random, because other tracks fitting those descriptions will play back. Is this a software or hardware issue?

I'm very happy to tell you that SqueezePlug for Raspberry Pi version 6 is now ready for download. I've changed a lot of details in the scripts, addressing both, usability and functions.

Hard-Float will give you an extra kick of performance, Soft-Float the compatibility to things not supported for Hard-Float, like Spotify and others. You can't switch between these versions, you have to decide in the beginning. If you don't like to use graphical x-stuff, which is unnecessary for SqueezePlug the performance of the Soft-Float version is absolutely o. The learning curve isn't steep - it's easier to understand after you get it working and it's worth spending the time getting the build to work even if you get it wrong and need to start again from the beginning.

I'd rather spend time learning how to do this than spend ridiculous sums of money on a one box solutions costing hundreds and some times thousands of pounds for a tool that does exactly the same job. Cool, thanks. The Pi is ready to go- I'm going to connect it via ethernet wired to the router. When I started reading into the Pi it seemed like I would need to faff around setting static IP addresses but the Squeezeplug tutorial didn't even mention this and it doesn't sound like it's necessary from reading around?

Backup wise, I'll rip cd's on my laptop then transfer them over the network to the Pi's external HD so there will already be two copies and then periodically back up the music from my laptop to another external HD.

So as long as you can log on to your router and see which IP address is allocated it won't change as long as you leave the Raspberry Pi turned on. Make sure you don't install a software player when you set up the Pi Once you build the Squeezeplug OS and connect everything up, check you can see the device and connected hard drive server in Windows File Explorer - mine appears as 'Squeezeplug' under the 'Network' option - yours should be the same. You should then be able to see the preconfigured folder structure of Squeezeplug and the hard drive you intend to use as media server.

Cool so 1 connect up Pi and power up 2 find out ip address that has been allocated 3 log on to router and reserve that ip address for Pi, then 4 there is an option during squeezeplug set up to fix the ip address? You can find where the card is connected using the mount command. Accessing SqueezePlug using the first method is straightforward. All Linux distros ship with the ssh utility to create an SSH session. Power up the RPi, wait for a minute and go to your router's administration page to find out the IP address it has assigned to the machine.

On Linux, fire up a terminal and enter sudo ssh root Current page: Page 1. Prepare the USB stick or partition. Please note that usb-sticks may differ in size, even if they are labeled as 4 GB. For that reason I've setup the card I took the image from with a partition smaller than the size the card offers. So you can now use the image for nearly every 4GB usb-stick. Make sure you use the newest version because it solves the problem with usb-sticks differing in size as mentioned above.

Establishing an IP-connection. After you copied the image to the USB-stick, you can place it in the Tonidoplug and reboot the device. If that doesn't work or you don't know how to find it, there are two other ways you can try: 1.

If that doesn't work, try to give the SqueezePlug a temporary IP-address. It configures your network settings, your filesharing connections and installs SBS automatically. If you don't wish to use this script you can also do all necessary configuration steps by hand. Now you have completed the setup. Remember that the Tonidoversion in this image is the embedded version.

There are 2 main differences. Tonido admin is not available and usb disks are not automatically mounted. For this you can use the installed webmin package. I hope to support the GoFlex Net soon! When I talk about a "device" I mean a DockStar device. Most of the things will work on a PogoPlug too, but I can't give you a guarantee for that. I don't own such a device so I cant check this out. Without his work, SqueezePlug on the Seagate devices would not be possible!

So I want to thank Jeff for his great work! The following devices will be supported:. There are two different methods to get the devices working. With the first method you will register your device at seagate and you can use the pogoplug software, if you boot your device from the NAND and not from the USB-stick. With the second method you will not first register to the PogoPlug service.

But if you like you can do it whenever you like. There are a lot of people who like the second method more than the first, but decide it by your self. Both methods are o. First method, with registration. Second method, without registration. Hints: If you plug in a external HD to Dockstar, you may get some trouble with your partition names. Because that, you will have trouble to mount your external drive and you wont get your music library connected. For that reason do the following:.

The original PogoPlug system will not work anymore, so be careful. After you do the next steps, you can't boot into the PogoPlug system any more. And there is no way back to the old system.

If you like a system on the internal NAND you can install a rescue system. That's a great system you can use for a lot of different things if something goes wrong with your USB-Stick. The following device will be supported:. This ensures that you can activate SSH you will need to connect the device.
