I'm currently using GTX Ti on p 60hz, i want to upgrade the monitor to a p with higher refresh rate. I'm not going for p because i consume a lot of p media also i don't think there's 2k movies, only p and 4k , i don't think it gonna scale well on p. I assume the Ti can scroll a webpage at fps just fine. But what about gaming? Last edited: Aug 19, Koekieezz Estimable.

But if you don't play competitive games there's no point getting Hz. You must log in or register to reply here. Question My monitor randomly completely white screened when turned on. You can also see this comparison in motion on testufo. So we are looking at this from a gaming angle where we need the clear, responsive visuals of a high refresh rate monitor and are less interested in exact colors or high resolutions. Now, HZ monitors are not a new thing per se. You probably have even heard of them before. Most of these displays used techniques to give the impression of HZ refresh rates by interpolating frames and pixels.

These are not true HZ monitors and need to be avoided. Which is why we gathered only native HZ monitors in the list for you. The BenQ Zowie XL was met with decent reviews but worries about motion trails overshooting pixels that create a blurry visual made us look at different monitors. ASUS and Acer monitors were met with good reviews as well but the high price point was not very attractive. At a significantly lower price, the same TN panel, and the obvious benefits of a HZ, 1ms response time display, the ViewSonic XG is our recommendation for the best HZ monitor.

Now, the cheaper price comes at a small disadvantage of course. The XG is missing G-Sync which is Nvidias counterpart to FreeSync and a functionality to reduce screen tearing at variable refresh rates.

In our testing, we can feel a significant difference between our old HZ display and the new HZ one. It is once again one of those things you never knew you wanted. After going back to my laptop to write this article I already missed the smooth motion of my mouse pointer.

For dedicated competitive gamers the decision on buying a HZ monitor is very easy. We want every kind of advantage we can get. Now the high price may make people think twice about the purchase but with the Viewsonic XG we have found a very reasonable value proposition. Thanks for reading. We have gathered the currently available HZ monitors in the table below. Take your pick and let us know in the comments on your personal favorite.

A couple of pros are already using HZ monitors as well. Tags: hz monitor hz vs hz gaming monitor. My mom said my eyes would turn into rectangles from playing too much PC. Joke's on her though, they are in glorious now. January 15, September 3, January 1, For csgo, which one will be better?

XL or XG? I edited the comment to clarify. In terms of input lag I was referring to a review of the XL from hardware. Thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at all the information I can find regarding the subject. There is a lot of out there. This site has been a very valuable resource for me and many of my friends for many reasons. Keep up the good work! The problem with these new hz panels is the input lag. All reviews around the web shows the screen lags at 15ms to 16ms.

Be it 60hz or hz. Luckily, bigger hardware stores usually have models on display that you can check. Naturally, Hz monitors are more expensive than their 60Hz counterparts, while the Hz ones are the priciest. Now, assuming that you can actually see the advantages that they have over 60Hz, and assuming that you can tell the differences between the two, it is entirely up to you to decide whether they are worth the investment or not.

All things considered, we would recommend Hz over Hz for most people. Not only are these monitors generally more affordable but the target performance is easier to hit as well. Perhaps most essentially, while there is a visible difference between these two refresh rates, a jump from 60Hz to Hz leads to much more noticeable improvements, while the difference between Hz and Hz is only minor.
