Christ who is the image of god

Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

That they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord , are the Most High over all the earth. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

And it will come about in that day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become briars and thorns. People will come there with bows and arrows because all the land will be briars and thorns. As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the hoe, you will not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place for pasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. Jesus being the image of God means that He is the perfect resemblance of Him.

This is what John was getting at in his Gospel. A modern way of understanding this communication aspect of Jesus being the image of God is emojis. If you use emojis, you might find that they can convey what it would take many words to convey. That little image conveys a good deal of communication. There is no one else that images God like Jesus Christ does. There is no guru that you can follow like you can follow Jesus. There is no business leader, self-improvement tycoon that you can trust like you can trust Jesus.

There is no human mentor that you can trust like Jesus. Paul says this directly in Philippians —9. We look at Jesus. We listen to Jesus to understand how we are called to image God in our work. Backstage before our annual banquet in my first job out of college, I knocked over a bottle, spilling wine on the white dress of our celebrity guest speaker, a host of one of the morning programs on network television.

It was not a small stain, either; meaning even people at the back tables of this thousand-seat event would be able to see it clearly.
