The men of Kappa Alpha Order are known as the gentlemen of the fraternity world. A KA, through his gentility, should always be distinguished by his modern chivalric characteristics.

At the heart of the code of chivalry and the fabric of KA is service to those in need. KAs serve hrough community service, volunteerism and commitment to philanthropy.

The Kappa Alpha Order was founded on December 21, at Washington College in Lexington, Virginia after the bloodiest war that the United States has seen, showed the nation that progress can be made. In the name was officially changed to Kappa Alpha Order. The Kappa Alpha Order is rooted in militaristic ways and treating everyone with respect. The colors represent the blood sacrificed crimson and gold spent in the defense of the country during the Civil War. The two flowers include crimson rose and the white magnolia, which represent masculine might and purity. The crest represents the continuing power of the Knight Commander, and the lions represent being cautious and magnanimous.
